Giving thought and consideration to how we’ve lived in the past and the changes we plan to make going forward are worthy of our time. With the New Year approaching, many will take time to set goals or resolutions for the coming year. In 2024, one of my goals was to read through the whole Bible. I’ve read through the entire Bible many times. Each time, I learn more and more. In 2024, I read at times, and I chose to listen to God’s word on other occasions. With so many devices at our fingertips, it baffles me when we let one day or many days go by without filling our minds with God’s word.
One area I plan to focus on in 2025 is scripture memory work. I’m starting now! No need to wait. Psalm 119:11 comes to mind when I ponder the importance of memorizing scripture. David wrote, “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.” It’s very difficult to hide God’s word in our hearts if we are not committed to reading, studying, meditating, and memorizing His word. I recently downloaded a free app called BibleMemory.com. So far, the app has been helpful. I am using it daily to memorize scriptures in the book of James. What tools do you use to memorize scripture? I encourage you to consider assessing your spiritual walk.
Here are a few questions to help you get started:
- Where are you spiritually?
- Is God pleased with your spiritual growth?
- Are you pleased with your spiritual growth?
- Are you stretching yourself for the Lord?
- What are your top five priorities in life?
- How much time do you dedicate to each of those priorities?
A New Year is coming. How are you going to use the time that God gives you?
